According to market researchers at comScore, the US smart phone market is undergoing some interesting changes, with Google’s Android system showing strong gains and Apple’s popular iPhone starting to cool. But the most interesting aspect of this peek at Q4 2009 smart phones sales is that some commonly held assumptions are simply incorrect.
Mobile Battle Heats Up Between Apple, Nokia

One company is the entrenched market leader, still powerful and in command, but losing share regularly to an upstart and media darling that is again challenging the status quo to the delight of its fanatical followers. But this isn’t Microsoft and Apple and the desktop PC market we’re talking about, not this time. Instead, the market in question is the mobile market, and while Apple is again in the role of underdog innovator, the market giant it’s targeting this time is Nokia.

Our audio quality test points out the iPhone 3GS as the contemporary audio quality reference. But that was until we had the chance to test a now elderly Nokia N91, which I accidentally sourced brand new from a local mobile shop. I came upon it by chance as part of a strange series of events that deserve their own blog post altogether. But I digress.
